On Wednesday, the consultant working with the Prison Relocation Commission publicly released information about six sites on its short list as well as how it ranked 26 sites initially proposed for the new Utah State Prison. You can read its site selection report at this link.
And this document shows how the top 14 sites were rated based on key criteria — proximity, land and environment, infrastructure, community services, development costs and community acceptance.
The commission voted to accept the six sites on the consultant’s short list; those sites will now go through more detailed evaluations. It also approved additional guidelines for reviewing the sites, including land conditions, population density and local/state future economic development plans. And the commission said additional sites may yet surface.
The commission’s next meeting is set for Dec. 22.
